Auto air conditioning: common problems and replacement parts

Mark Kennedy • August 5, 2020

Getting your car’s air conditioner serviced is not something we think of until it’s too late and you have to book your car in for an air conditioner repair. It’s important to have your car’s air conditioner serviced yearly to avoid those pesky car air conditioner repair costs.

The air conditioning system comprises many components including a compressor that is driven by the engine; an expansion valve that regulates the flow of refrigerant; and two heat exchangers including the evaporator and condenser. Which is why it is so important that when you get your car’s air conditioner serviced, you should make sure that they check the motor, blower, drain line, coils, operating pressures and temperatures, the return and supply lines, refrigerant levels, and connections as well.

Tell-tale signs that you need to get your car air conditioner repaired

  • No cold air from the car’s air conditioner. Most often this issue is caused by a refrigerant leak.
  • No air coming from the vents. This could happen for numerous reasons. Such as a blown fuse or bad relay, damage to the blower motor or blower resistor or blocked air intake to name a few. Our knowledgeable technicians will be able to eliminate the possible causes by checking several components first.
  • Air is cool, but not getting cold. Most often this issue is due to low refrigerant.

It’s no fun being stuck without air conditioning on a hot summer day, especially in a hot car where temperatures in Georgia can quickly reach 94⁰F. If you are experiencing any of these issues bring your car in to our
